We booked the standard $100 tour in Uyuni. The agent there had us pay an extra 100 BS ($15 US) for park entrance fees, water, and the exit visa to Chile. Our tour got "farmed out" to another tour company who didn't know anything about these extra payments, so we had to pay for these things on the tour. When we stopped at the office in San Pedro, the people there were VERY helpful, even when the agent in Uyuni accused us of lying about the extra fees. The people in San Pedro asked us to post this information and recommend that future travelers with Cordillera:
1. Try to book through San Pedro, not Uyuni. They don't even trust the people in Uyuni.
2. Be sure to get written receipts for ANY money paid, so you can dispute any problems you have.
The tour itself was pretty basic, okay food, Spanish speaking guide, pretty old 4X4 and we stayed in the creepy old meteorological station on day 2. Bring sleeping bags! But for $100, it was a good deal. |
